Glasgow Argyll Arcade Robbery Foiled by Fog Bandit

LATEST NEWS – Fog Bandit successfully foiled it’s 27th UK Jewellery robbery on Wednesday 24th September at the Argyll Arcade in Glasgow.

Masked raiders launched a co-ordinated attack on four watch and jewellery stores in the Argyll Arcade but failed to enter Laing the Jeweller which was protected by the Fog Bandit system. Fortunately the vigilant staff were unharmed and no loss was suffered.

Laings of Glasgow directors Joe Walsh and Wendy Laing released a statement following the attempted robbery at their store, stating:

Laings of Glasgow can confirm there was an attempted robbery in their flagship store within the Argyll Arcade on Wednesday September 24 2014 at 12.50pm.

All security procedures were followed by our quick thinking staff, resulting in no-one being hurt from our store or any stock being taken. Laings thank everyone for their concern and well wishes.”

Laings senior marketing and ecommerce consultant Kim Murdoch also added: “Our security system is Fog Bandit and was installed by our alarm company Pointer.”

This is a further example of the clear deterrent message to the criminal fraternity that targeting Jewellers and Pawnbrokers with a Fog Bandit system installed is a fruitless exercise and heightens the likelihood of being caught.
